First Bulgarian .NET book volume 2 is out

The long awaited second volume of the first Bulgarian .NET book is out. It is about 1,000 pages and the overall size of both volumes is about 1,800 pages. There is also a sample project written in .NET 1.1 which you can install and review. Any suggestions, comments and feedback you can make on the book errata page and book forum. All comments are welcome.
The book is written by members of the Bulgarian Association of Software Developers (BASD) with the support of Telerik, international components vendor.
Bulgarian Association of Software Developers is constantly looking for authors and speakers. If you are interested, feel free to contact me in this blog or ask in BASD forum.

Edit: Shameless plug – my chapter "23. Interoperability with unmanaged code" contains everything you need to know about .NET interoperability in 44 pages.

Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 is out

Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 is out. There are three links available. One for Team Suite, Standard, Professional and Team Edition, one for Team Foundation Server and one for Express Editions.
There also is going to be a link for the long expected SP1 for Vista but it is not working at the moment and given the power outage in Redmond last week, it may take some time, but keep watching.
Download Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 and get your Christmas present from Microsoft :).

IASA has new competitor

The Association of Open Group Enterprise Architects is a new vendor funded organization. It is interesting that after IASA in general has spent more than three year in preparing local chapters, content and certification programs, this new organization claims that they can do all of this right now. You just have pay :).
Looking forward to see how IASA management will approach this new organization for the good of all IT architects.

Data Dude is out

On my session at FMI last Sunday, I told many people that I won’t believe that Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals will be released soon even though it was CTP7 at that time. I saw so many problems in that release that it seemed unnatural for me to be released so soon. However, back to the news, Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals, aka the Data Dude, is out at MSDN Subscriber Downloads. Go, go, go!
